What is ISH (Instant Social Hub)?
We bring people together for easy, fun, in-person events with no pressure, just good times with good humans.
Who is ISH for?
Anyone who wants more real-life connection! Whether you’ve just moved here, your social circle has shrunk over the years, or you simply love meeting new people, ISH is for you.
How is ISH different from other social groups or events?
No cliques, no awkward silences, no “networking vibes.” Every event is designed with built-in ways to make connecting natural (and fun). Think icebreakers that don’t make you cringe, activities that spark conversation, and a welcoming crew that makes sure no one’s left standing alone.
Do I need to be outgoing to join?
Not at all. Some of our best members are introverts. We design the events so you don’t have to push yourself to “perform” socially... connections happen organically. You can join in at your own pace.
What if I don’t know anyone? Is it awkward to come alone?
Not with us. In fact, most people come solo the first time. We make it super easy to slide into conversation and feel part of the group right away. By the end of the event, you won’t feel like you came alone.
What kind of events does ISH host?
Think everything from trivia nights to park picnics, board game battles, quirky challenges, coffee crawls, and seasonal adventures. Some are cozy and low-key, some are bigger and more energetic. All are designed to help people connect without the pressure.
How often are events held?
It depends on your city, but most locations host at least 6-10 events per month.
Do I need to be a member to attend?
You need to be a part of the Facebook Group for your region, in order to see the details & RSVP.
How much does it cost to join an event?
There will be a variety of free events planned each month, such as hikes, walks and playground playdates. Many are free to attend, with the expectation to support the venue, such as coffee dates and trivia nights. Ticketed events will vary in cost and are always optional.
Where is ISH available right now?
We’re rolling out across the Lower Mainland first! If you don’t see your city yet, join the waitlist and help us decide where to launch next.
What if my city isn’t listed?
Hop on our waitlist! New locations are prioritized by demand, so the more people from your area who sign up, the faster we’ll land there.
Can I attend events in other ISH locations?
Not right now. The magic of ISH is building real friendships with people in your own community; the ones you can grab coffee with on a Tuesday, not just see once and never again. Each ISH hub is designed to feel local and connected. That said, we will be hosting larger, special events that bring different ISH communities together in the future. For now, we’re keeping it close to home.
Is ISH inclusive? Who is welcome?
Everyone. ISH is for all backgrounds, ages, and life stages. Our events are built to be welcoming, safe, and respectful.
Is ISH just for singles?
Nope! ISH is about connection in the broadest sense, friendships, community, laughter, belonging. You’ll meet people at all stages of life. Having said that, we will host some events geared toward singles!
What age group is ISH for?
Many ISH events are for adults 18+, perfect for anyone looking to meet new people and make connections. Some events are kid- and family-friendly, so everyone can join in. Occasionally, we also host events geared toward specific demographics, like dads, singles, or other groups, so there’s something for everyone at the right time.
How do you make sure events are safe?
We have clear community guidelines, hosts at every event, and a zero-tolerance policy for disrespectful behavior. You’ll always feel supported and safe at ISH.
What if I’m shy or nervous about joining?
Totally normal! We’ve got you. Every event is designed to ease you in gently so you won’t be left standing awkwardly on the sidelines. And if you need a little extra encouragement, our hosts are always there to make introductions.
What if I don’t like the first event I attend?
We get it - not every style of event is everyone’s cup of tea. That’s why we mix it up. Try another one! You might love a trivia night even if a hike wasn’t your thing.
Do I need to RSVP in advance?
It depends on the event! For most ticketed or space-limited events (like trivia nights, workshops, or small group experiences), it’s best to RSVP early so you don’t miss out. For open-air or large-capacity events like hikes, park meetups, or casual gatherings, everyone is welcome, no RSVP needed.
What’s your cancellation/refund policy?
For ticketed events, all sales are final. This ensures we can commit to venues, supplies, and activities without risk. If you can’t attend, you’re welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend.
Can I bring a friend?
Of course! In fact, lots of people bring a friend to their first event. Just make sure they also register so we have a spot saved.
Can I suggest an event idea?
YES. We love ideas! Some of our best events have come from members’ suggestions. Just send us your idea and we’ll see if we can make it happen. We have a community input form you can fill out with all your ideas!
